Cyril Mulon (Lighting designer), his eclectic career has led him to work both for the stage and for film. A graduate of the École Louis Lumière, he began his career as a cameraman, collaborating on numerous documentaries about performing artists (Saburo Teshigawara, Claude Régy, Michel Portal, among others). He continued to explore his passion for imagery by creating, among other projects, the video sequences for Jérôme Savary’s musical show À la recherche de Joséphine (2007), and working as director of photography for filmed concerts.

He approached lighting design for live performance as an assistant to lighting designer Martial Barrault, working on theatre productions, circus shows, and concerts. In 1998, he joined Peter Brook’s team at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, where he gained extensive artistic and technical experience over ten years during numerous international tours.

Since 2003, he has been designing lighting and visual content for the shows of storyteller and director Hassane Kassi Kouyaté, with whom he maintains a close artistic collaboration (Le Papalagui, En Attendant Godot, The Island, L’Affaire de l’Esclave Furcy, Fontaine Solaire, Congo Jazz Band). He has also created lighting for contemporary written works, including those by Hubert Koundé (Cagoule) and Françoise Dô (À Parté, Juillet 1961, Reine Pokou). He collaborates with opera director Stephan Groegler (La Trilogie Beaumarchais at the Opéra de Rouen, 2008–2010; Kouples, 2017) and, in 2025, designed lighting for performances blending concert, theatre, and dance (4 Chevelures Persanes by the Concert Impromptu; Again and Again by Johanna Faye and Théo Ceccaldi; Face à Face: Nach and the Ensemble Inter-Contemporain at the Philharmonie de Paris).

Discovering contemporary dance with North American choreographer Stéfanie Batten Bland, he has collaborated with choreographers Sébastien Ramirez and Honji Wang (Monchichi, Borderline, Everyness, W.A.M.) as well as Jann Gallois (P=mg, Diagnostic F20.9, Quintette, Reverse, Samsara, Ineffable, Imperfecto). He has also designed lighting for choreographers Bintou Dembélé (Z.H., Strates), Johanna Faye and Saido Lehlouh (Iskio, Fact, Earthbound), Nach (Elles disent), and Wanjiru Kamuyu (At the moment of encounter, Portraits in red, An Immigrant’s Story, Fragmented Shadows, SHANGWE, le bal).
